Your Watchdog Under the Hood
The Westhaver Associates Generator Controller (GenCon) is employed by many high-end motor coach builders such as
Blue Bird,
Royale Coach and
Country Coach. The GenCon works together with the
coach's diesel powered generator system. It offers the option of manual or automatic operation. When the
automatic mode is selected, it will automatically start and run the generator for a period of time when one
or more of the following conditions occur: house batteries have low voltage; generator cranking battery has low
voltage; or shore power falls below 100 VAC. After running the generator for a period of time the GenCon will
shut off the generator long enough to check everything without generator power and then, if necessary, start again.
And what is the advantage of this feature? The GenCon acts as a "watchdog" for other power sources;
auto starting your generator to provide power when needed, charging the house batteries in low voltage situations
and keeping the generator's cranking battery in a state of readiness.

Will start the generator if either of two battery voltages,
or the external AC voltage, fall below their threshold levels.
